Do Customers Trust Your Website?

website trustHow to build trust and increase conversions

Take a moment to think about this question: What do you look for when you consider purchasing a product or service? Now, does your website provide the information your customers are looking for? If not, then you might have a big problem – your customers might not trust you to be the best person for them. Building trust through your website is important, because it builds your image, shows customers that you are reliable, and converts website views into sales opportunities.

If you’d like to increase the trustworthiness of your website, there are some simple but very effective things you can do.

Use badges and logos

One of the first things customers look for are accolades of your identity, experience, and quality service. Make an instant impact using company logos, and badges that demonstrate awards or special recognitions you have received, such as an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. If you offer any money back guarantees or special offers, such as free consultations, make sure those are highlighted as well.

Build a strong “About” page

Your About page should tell customers exactly who you are, your history as a company, and how you can solve their problems. Include a mission statement that lets customers know that you are dedicated to serving them well and/or providing them with quality products. Be truthful in your content, ensuring you possess a real dedication to your customers.

Offer useful information

A great way to show off what you can do is by adding useful, industry-relevant information to your website. This encourages customers to view you as an authority in your field, so they know, “this person knows their stuff.” You can accomplish this in various ways, ranging from the general content on your website, to including a thoughtful FAQ page, to creating informative blog articles.

Provide testimonials

Customers love to hear what others are saying about you – good and bad. Of course, you want the good to far outweigh the bad, but a few not so bad, but not ideal reviews can go a long way towards making you more trustworthy. Create a review section on your Home page for example, that gives a rating of 0-5 stars (you want yours to be at least 4, or otherwise, not a good idea). You can also display a slide show of positive customer testimonials. You probably know this already, but just in case you are tempted, don’t fabricate these things. Reach out the real customers for real reviews and testimonials.

Let customers see who you are

Give your customers an inside look into your business by including pictures of your business and staff. If appropriate, you might even provide employee profiles that showcase their areas of expertise and experience. If your customers feel they have a sense of who you are, they are more likely to reach out.

Make it easy for customers to contact you

If customers cannot contact you with questions, concerns, or complaints, they probably will not trust you. Having a great customer care policy is one of the best ways to build credibility, because it lets people know that you are dedicated to serving them well and solving any problems that might arise.

The best way to build trustworthiness is to be trustworthy. If you take good care of your customers and provide the services they need at reasonable prices, then your reputation will grow. But, even the best professionals can suffer reputation damage if their website doesn’t convey their values. Following these simple tips will accomplish that and more!
